Carbon County’s 90 day appeal period for the Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning Process (Risk MAP) began April 21st. During the appeal period, the Board of County Commissioners encourages any owner or lessee of real property in an unincorporated area of the county to review their property and comment to the county if the individual believes his/her property rights will be adversely affected by the proposed flood hazard determinations. The sole basis for such appeals is the possession of knowledge or information indicating that the proposed flood hazard determinations are scientifically or technically incorrect. With that information the county could then appeal to FEMA on behalf of the private property owner/lessee.
